14 New Brunswick Children at Camp
We are proud to support the Visiting Cousins program at Kings Landing, New Brunswick!
Thanks to generous donors & partners, we provide bursaries to 14 deserving children each summer who would not otherwise be able to attend.
For over 40 years, children aged 9 to 14 descend on Kings Landing from all over New Brunswick, Canada, the U.S. and beyond to become immersed in 19th century living as “visiting cousins.”
On-site from Monday-Friday, they do chores, work on the farms, attend the one-room schoolhouse for lessons, play games and interact with historical interpreters in the village. Tasks they undertake include making butter, sewing, blacksmithing, gardening and much more.
Tuition for Visiting Cousins is $425 for the week. The Kings Landing Foundation provides 14 bursaries each year to New Brunswick children who might not otherwise be able to attend. Working with the local school boards, teachers are asked to nominate deserving children, with the Foundation paying full tuition and providing the camp kit required (sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, socks and a journal).
Feedback has been phenomenal, with teachers and parents reporting a marked difference in the child’s confidence and ability to learn and contribute in the classroom the following year (check out the full impact).
Thank you to our many donors who make these bursaries available! If you’d like to donate to the program, click the button below to make a secure donation through Canada Helps. Thanks so much.
